Camp
Fire USA believes that youth leadership is very important. Because
of that, Camp Fire established a national youth advisory group in
the late 1980s. This advisory group is known as the Youth
Advisory Cabinet (YAC).
YAC serves in
an advisory position to the national staff and national board of
trustees. It also acts as the voice for all Camp Fire USA youth.
Mission
Statement of the national YAC:
To be the national representation of committed youth that serve
as the voice of Camp Fire USA teens by leading, teaching and serving.
Each Camp Fire
USA youth who meets basic qualifications is encouraged to apply
to become a member of the national YAC. Andrew Neill from
Wilani Council is currently the Chair of the national YAC and the
national Vice President of Youth Leadership. Andrew is serving a
third term as a national YAC member. For more information about
the national YAC please visit the national
website.
LOCAL
YAC
Camp Fire USA Wilani Council has
a local YAC. These youth help plan local council wide activities
such as the sock drive for Looking Glass New Roads and the Imagine
No Hunger food drive for FOOD for Lane County. Like the national
YAC, the local YAC is in a consulting position for the Wilani Council
board of directors and staff and is the voice of the Wilani Council
youth.
